If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m currently sitting in Burger King at Shanghai’s International Airport. I’ve just devoured a spicy chicken meal and I’ve been catching up on blog comments. The airport wifi is definitely the fastest wifi I have come across so far on this trip! Did you see my post on the flight from London to Shanghai?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have absolutely loved being in China for the past eleven days. I’ve seen a lot more of Shanghai than before (I came back in 2005) and I’ve reacquainted myself with the hometown I’m originally from. It’s been quite a personal journey for me (not to mention fairly mentally exhausting) but I’m so glad I’ve come back at an age where I can clearly remember things. I’ve also discovered a lot more things this time round than when we visited last so it was definitely worth coming back! I’ve also used my Mandarin every single day (read about my intensive Mandarin classes here) and I’m only coming back even more determined and motivated to study more Chinese independently once I’m home. I will obtain the HSK 5 qualification this summer!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that the weather here in China has been gorgeous (around 22 degrees!) and I’ve heard/seen it’s been similar back in the UK too. Am I summer ready? Hell no. Jack and I have agreed that next term will be our term to focus more on health and actually do some exercise. I’ve gained far too much weight in a short space of time and I just want my health and tone back! You guys can hold me accountable 😉
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have just under two weeks once I’m back to study for my collections once I’m back at university. I’ve really not done much at all and I’m actually beginning to worry about it. I think if I stay focused and use every single day wisely then I’ll be okay. We shall see…
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my favourite vlog of term has gone live! It’s the last week of term (always the best one) and the video version of my Oxford Law Society Ball blog post! Go check it out and let me know what you think 🙂
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have so many blog post ideas and lots of drafts of posts but I don’t quite know how to write them. I guess you could say I have writer’s block in a way… I really want to write more frequent blog posts, and also a couple more personal blog posts, but for some reason I’m stuck when I attempt to write them. Bear with me please!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve also been thinking about my YouTube channel. For a while I was contemplating ending the weekly university vlogs and stopping any sit-down videos or collaborations because I wasn’t feeling happy with the channel. I found myself comparing myself to other YouTubers which is a huge no-no. Comparison is the thief of joy – and it shouldn’t stop you from doing what you love! (at least that’s what I keep telling myself…)
Watch my favourite vlog below!
Tell me…
- Are there any goals or plans you have for the summer?
- Do you have any university/school exams coming up?
Peace and love,

Hey Viola, I am a huge fan of your blogs and vlogs! Please, please, please so not stop your weekly vlogs! Watching your vlogs have kept me motivated for the last couple of months to go and get those grades. All the best for collections!
Thank you so much Priyadarshini, this really means a lot <3 <3
Viola! I’ve been watching your vlogs and reading these blog posts ever since you started at Oxford. It’s not an exaggeration to say that you’ve really made me think that going to Oxford is not some unreachable dream and that if I put the work in, I could get there! If all goes to plan, I hope to be applying for Biological Sciences at New! Will you be there on the open day in June? Hope you’re having fun on your trip!
Geena, I can’t begin to tell you just how much this comment means. Thank you so much for all of your support and I’m so happy you’ve felt inspired by all of my content! I’m not sure whether I’ll be there on the open day (term finishes on June 18) but good luck with your application. New is definitely the right choice 😉
Not at all! Thank you so much for replying! Good luck with collections you’ll kill it 🙂
