If We Were Having Coffee… | Vol. 33

The first post of 2018 – and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write!

Here’s a lil life update for all of you…

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my exams start in five weeks’ time. And that terrifies me. It was only this morning that it really hit me how soon they are and how absolutely unprepared I feel for them. I always said I’d be a ghost/hermit this term, but that was just in theory. Now is the time it will actually be put into practice. The last time I had any formal exams were during my A levels, and they were two and a half years ago! I don’t remember how I dealt with stress and organising my time, and everything that comes with exams – so here’s to figuring it all out again, and seeing how I cope this time. I think crunch-time has well and truly hit.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve successfully gone twenty days without sugar. For me, that’s a really impressive achievement! I’ve overcome my sugar cravings and restrained myself from tearing open the box of chocolates in my room. My body has really thanked me for this sugar break.

If we were having coffee, twenty seventeen in reviewI would tell you that re-reading my blog post reminded me of just how far I’d come, and just how much I’ve learnt. Re-reading posts inspires me and makes me feel a lot better about myself. If you fancy being inspired, head on over and read the blog post.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m not actually vlogging this term. Not just because I have exams (my vlogs would just consist of me in the library day in, day out), but also because I’m not really feeling it. My channel has grown and grown, but I didn’t create it just for Oxford university videos. I have always wanted to inspire more people to travel and to take gap years. I’m taking a break from YouTube this term to think about the different travel content I want to make. I’m really going to sit down and film lots of informative travel-related videos for you guys, and I’m pretty excited!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that it’s been a pretty hectic first week of term. As I’m not on the Oxford Law Society Committee as Membership Officer, I had to host the Membership Drives this past week. This meant I was collecting and delivering stash, sitting at the drive for two hours, signing new members up onto the database and distributing the membership cards. It’s taken a small chunk of time from my week. I also had other commitments with meetings and organising the calendar of events for my role on the JCR committee as Ethnic Minority rep. It was also two of my close friends’ birthdays, which inevitably meant work wasn’t going to get done. But it’s back to some serious work from now on!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my sleeping pattern has been all over the place. I went to our first college bop last week and slept at 2am, yet still made it to a spin class at 7am. I’d go to bed at 10:30pm, hoping to wake up at 7am and yet wake up at 11 instead?! I don’t get it. I want to try and get into a solid routine now though as it’s all about consistency 😉

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’d like to write more on this blog when I feel like just writing. I have planned content that I want to write about, but I think just writing freely would be a good way to de-stress. I write in my journal everyday (or at least try to) but maybe writing about certain things online would resonate with some of you too. We’ll see.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve been going for walks and stretching every other day. My body feels so good stretching everything out and I’m determined to get my flexibility back slowly but surely. Going for walks instead of catching up with friends over a cuppa or food has also been a really nice change. Fresh air does wonders, it really does.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have loved using my Wonderboom speaker that my mum got me for Christmas. I have the one in lilac and it’s so handy – I can even take it into the shower with me because it’s waterproof! It’s been great to use when I want to chill out and do some yoga, write in my journal, read or even just jam out to some tuuunes. {Okay, that sounds so unlike me ahaha}. If you’re looking for a speaker, I’d really recommend Ultimate Ears.
